‘She holds the key’
Ghislaine Maxwell, now 64, had a relationship with Epstein for years. In 2022, she was sentenced to 20 years in prison for recruiting young women who were abused by Epstein.
Because Jeffrey Epstein died in 2019, Maxwell is seen as the one who can make revelations about her ex-partner’s network. Especially now that more and more new documents are coming out, says America correspondent Erik Mouthaan.
“There are still 3 million documents that have not been released. Maxwell probably knows more, but has refused to say anything,” Mouthaan said. She has invoked the so-called Fifth Amendment, much to the disappointment of lawmakers. “She says: I refuse to provide information that could incriminate myself.”
‘Wants for a pardon from Trump’
Due to a statement Maxwell shared prior to the interrogation, it was already expected that she would not say anything. But her lawyer still came up with something striking, says Mouthaan. “She wants the guarantee that she will receive a pardon from Donald Trump. This will allow her to get out of prison.”
It is still unclear whether the president will actually give this. “So far, Trump has neither confirmed nor ruled out granting that pardon.”
In the meantime, there is a lot to do about Trump’s role in Maxwell’s trial. “A while ago she was interviewed by the Secretary of State for Justice. There she said that Trump had never done anything criminal, after which she was transferred to a milder prison in Texas.”
The documents recently released raise many new questions in the Epstein case. More and more people are coming into the picture who are caught having had contact with Epstein for longer than they said. This also applies to the European elite: the Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, the British politician Peter Mandelson and even the Dutch model Yfke Sturm often appeared. Trump’s name is mentioned more than 6,000 times in the now published documents.
Lack of evidence
Both the Minister of Justice under previous President Joe Biden and under Donald Trump had to conclude that no one else could be prosecuted due to a lack of evidence. “The question is: does she know more? She holds the key, but she wants to be released, so she doesn’t say anything.”
In principle, Maxwell will no longer be interrogated in the short term. At the end of this month, Bill and Hillary Clinton, who also had close ties with Epstein, are expected to testify. “They are being forced to do that. Then we hope to know more. In any case, the fuss is not over yet.”
Jeffrey Epstein had a private island in the US Virgin Islands for years. The island, known as ‘Epstein Island’, is believed to have been the site of many of his crimes:

Exploring Documented Records
Public interest in the Epstein case continues not only because of court proceedings and testimonies, but also due to the growing body of documented records that help researchers and readers understand the broader context. Beyond legal files and media reports, some independent projects have organized publicly available data connected to Epstein’s activities.
One example is a structured archive of documented Amazon order records, where purchases are cataloged with dates and product details. While individual items do not prove wrongdoing on their own, examining documented information alongside established facts helps paint a clearer picture of the environment and circumstances surrounding the case.
For readers looking to review primary-source style data rather than interpretations, exploring compiled records can provide additional context to the broader discussion.
