Fredrik Solvang speaks out about Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Epstein for the first time
Fredrik Solvang:
In “Se og Hør Royal”, Fredrik Solvang speaks about the crown princess and Epstein for the first time.
Fredrik Solvang (49) has for a number of years been presenter of NRK’s ”The Debate”, a job he left in November 2025.
For a full eight years, he confronted politicians, led public-enlightening debates and asked people in power difficult, and at times uncomfortable, questions.

Among other things, he has led several debates about the royal house – back in 2019 he led, among other things, a program called “Märtha and the monarchy”.
In the same year, it became known that Crown Princess Mette-Marit (52) had been in contact with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This year, even more information has come out about the contact, which turned out to be more extensive than previously thought.
For several months, Dagbladet has been in contact with, and discussed, various profiles who have had strong opinions about the crown princess’s contact with Epstein.
Among those we have tried to contact is Solvang, who has refrained from answering.
– What we’ve all wondered
This week, Solvang has visited «See and Hear Royal»a web series led by the magazine’s royal house expert Caroline Vagle. There he speaks about the crown princess and Epstein for the first time.

Initially, the 49-year-old is asked which royal person he would like to have dinner with. The choice falls on Crown Princess Mette-Marit (52), and the reason is that he has many questions to ask her.

– Of course we had to talk a bit about how things are going, with health and such. But then we should have talked about Epstein then […]. I would ask many more questions about how this could happen, more detailed questions about the nature of the friendship, about their activities. I had confronted her with the quotes that have leaked out from the reports, which I can’t see that she has – and asked if it entails correctness that she has written this to Epstein, if it is true that he has responded like this and that, and what that means in the case. Because that’s what we’ve all been wondering.

He believes it would help the Crown Princess to ask for such an interview, and get it off the ground. He is nevertheless clear that the most important thing for Mette-Marit is to get well now.
– Having said that, I am sure that the Norwegian people will not be completely satisfied with the answers they have received, and only she can help clarify that.
Want more pomp and splendour
When asked whether he wants a monarchy or a republic, he admits he has doubts – although he has always considered himself a “practical monarchist”.

Dagbladet has sent an inquiry to the Castle in connection with this case, and the statements to Solvang. It has not been answered.
Because there is much about the monarchy and the royal house that Solvang greatly appreciates. But there is still one thing he misses about the Norwegian royal house. He wished they allowed themselves to be praised more often.

– If we are to have such an old-fashioned institution, as undemocratic as it is, then it must be compensated in some way. A nice compensation is glitter, pomp and tiaras – and everything that comes with it, he says with a laugh, adding that on behalf of the Norwegian people, he wants more “pomp and splendor” from the royal house.

Exploring Documented Records
Public interest in the Epstein case continues not only because of court proceedings and testimonies, but also due to the growing body of documented records that help researchers and readers understand the broader context. Beyond legal files and media reports, some independent projects have organized publicly available data connected to Epstein’s activities.
One example is a structured archive of documented Amazon order records, where purchases are cataloged with dates and product details. While individual items do not prove wrongdoing on their own, examining documented information alongside established facts helps paint a clearer picture of the environment and circumstances surrounding the case.
For readers looking to review primary-source style data rather than interpretations, exploring compiled records can provide additional context to the broader discussion.
